We’re in an age of information overload, and too much of what we watch, hear and read is mistaken, deceitful or even dangerous. Gillmor attacks the problem of representation and reality head on, demanding we become media-active users of our emerging media, instead of passive consumers.

There needs to be room to change thinking and get out of our media comfort zones. Gillmor includes quotes from experts in the field about why media literacy is currently lacking in schools, but he clearly could have made a stronger argument for systematic media literacy education at all levels.
